WHAT: Don’t miss Clean Sweep, the 27th annual city-wide cleanup event organized by Keep Austin Beautiful (KAB). In 2011, over five thousand volunteers from Tarrytown to Senna Hills picked up over twenty-five tons of trash from public spaces at 136 cleanup locations around Austin!
WHY: “Clean Sweep brings Austinites of all ages together in a day of service to care for our precious parks, waterways, neighborhoods, and schools,” explains Community Programs Manager, Ladye Anne Wofford. “This event is extremely important for our city as it builds community, educates the public about litter issues, and creates new environmental stewards who will continue to protect our community spaces for years to come.”
Not to mention, Clean Sweep 2012 is followed by a fantastic after-party. Don’t miss the Volunteer Party and Environmental Fair at Fiesta Gardens, including free lunch, live music, kids’ environmental activities, recycled art, door prizes and more! Early Clean Sweep registrants also get a free event t-shirt.
