LinkedIn has listed Austin, Texas as number eight of the most “socially-minded cities in America.” Based on volunteer experience listed by Austin residents on its online professional networking and resume site, Austin was the only city in Texas to make the list. Of course, this means Austinites could just be more apt to talk about their volunteering and social consciousness than residents in other cities, but over time Austin has made numerous lists for some of the top volunteering rates in the country. Almost 40 percent of Austin residents volunteer in some way.
