The Blanton Museum of Art on the University of Texas campus is offering a host of fun family activities “designed to engage and inspire” this summer season. From story times to artistic projects, there is something for every child at the Blanton, with activities running until August 7.
WorkLab
Wednesdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., WorkLAB is an open studio time that allows kids of all ages to explore multiple artistic mediums through experimentation and fun. Connect and engage through art at these limited space events.
Storytime Tours
Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays at 10:30 a.m., these 30-minute thematic tours that begin in the Rapoport Atrium encourage young ones to “make connections between art, story, and life.” These tours are recommended for children ages three to seven, and space is limited. Tickets are available at the Service Desk beginning at 10 a.m.
Deeper Dives
Wednesdays and Fridays (starting June 24) from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., Deeper Dives are for older children, ages eight to 13. These 90-minute experiences engage children and their adult companions more deeply into art. Each week will offer a different theme, from the exhibition “Impressionism and the Caribbean.” Get tickets at the Services Desk one hour prior to event time, and meet in the Rapoport Atrium.
General notes for all events: Children must be accompanied by an adult, and museum admission is required for adults and children ages 13 and over.
