It’s time for an “over-the-top dose of Christmas magic, along with a hot cup of coffee or cocoa!”
Mozart’s Coffee Roasters has kicked off its annual festive Christmas Lights Show, which will run daily through January 1, 2018, except for Christmas day. This year’s show will run continuously from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. and features a record number of more than one million LED lights. This year’s event is being billed as an “immersive, interactive experience with new sights and sounds,” and the popular coffee venue on Lake Austin also will feature live choral singing spaced throughout the evenings.
The holiday lights will be sculpted into giant iconic objects that were custom made in Greece. The designs were created to showcase both the season and Austin and include guitars, a fancy carriage, the State Capitol, and a present-filled Christmas tree. The wall of lights and objects are audio-activated and will dance along in unison with the sounds of the season. Area choirs also will sing traditional Christmas songs, as well as what Mozart’s describes as “rock-the-deck” tunes.
Mozart’s says this year, guests can arrive any time. The event is still free, as a gift to Austin, and beverages including hot cocoa will be available for purchase, as well as a selection of snacks and desserts. The event is family friendly and dog friendly.
Mozart’s is located at 3825 Lake Austin Boulevard in the Tarrytown area of Austin. Additional parking is available across the street.
