January 2018 Events at Tarrytown’s Howson Library

The Howson Branch of the Austin Public Library is holding multiple events this January 2018, just in time to kick off the new year! The events serve a range of ages and are all free and open to the public. Read below for event schedule:

Minecraft Club will meet Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at 4:30 p.m. and is recommended for kids ages seven and older.

The Historical Fiction Book Club will meet Thursday, January 4, 2018 at 7 p.m. to discuss Caleb’s Crossing by Geraldine Brooks.

Books and Babies, recommended for children 18 months and younger, will be held Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at 2 p.m., as well as Tuesday, January 16; Tuesday, January 23; and Tuesday, January 30.

All Ages Storytime, for kids ages five and below, will be held Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at 10:15 a.m., as well as Wednesday, January 17; Wednesday, January 24; and Wednesday, January 31. All Ages Storytime features stories, songs, finger plays, rhymes, crafts, and more, depending on the day.

The NBTween Book Club will meet Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at 4 p.m. to discuss The First Rule of Punk by Celia C. Perez. The NBTween Book Club is recommended for kids ages eight to 12 and their parents or guardians.

Music and Movement is designed for kids ages three to five and encourages kids to “stretch, sing, dance and explore music with rhythm instruments” and focuses on Sing and Play recommendations that help develop motor, listening, and social skills, as well as introduce vocabulary. Music and Movement will be held Thursday, January 11, 2018 at 11 a.m., as well as Thursday, January 18; and Thursday, January 25.

Dual Language: Spanish-English is recommended for ages five and under and includes story time with some material presented in English and some material presented in Spanish. It will be held Friday, January 12, 2018 at 11 a.m., as well as Friday, January 19 and Friday, January 26.

Art Smart – Native American Celebration is an all-ages event on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 2 p.m.

Teen Book Club meets Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. to discuss Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson.

Family Craft Night, recommended for ages five and up, is Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at 6:30 p.m.

Crafternoon will be held Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at 3:30 p.m.

Book Club for adults will meet Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at 7 p.m. to discuss Commonwealth by Ann Patchett.
